PACIFIC AIRWAYS.
American Company Still Working In New Zealand. Experts of Pan-American Airways. Ltd., are now in New Zealand conducting investigations incidental to the company’s proposal to inaugurate a regular mail and puss nger service between San Francisco and New Zealand. The agreement between the New Zealand Government and PanAmerican Airways, Ltd., for the right to operate to New Zealand, expired on December 31. If it is extended the company will make survey flights over the route, so that crews may becoma familiar with the conditions and requirements of the I course and equipm ait may be tested and proved under service conditions. The four hops in the proposed service are: To Honolulu, 2400 miles; to Kingman Reef, 1100 miles; to Pago Pago, 1600 miles; and to Auckland, 1850 miles. The company is already running a weekly service to Honolulu, as part of the weekly service across the Pacific, and the connection to N *w Zealand will be a branch line of that. The Pacific service runs from San Francisco to Manila and on to China. The China Clipper i flying boats, which carr-yi 18 passen- • gers with a crew of seven at 157 j miles an hour, are. used. T.n nerv I flying boats, nearly twice the weight of the present ones, with accommodation for twice as many passengers, have been ordered.
