Despite the temporary recurrence of pain in the left leg the Pope improved last evening but ba was very tired. He flatly refused to submit to a consultation of doctors, saying he was ali Tight and did not want to be bothered.

Latest reports discount earlier suggestions of the portponement of the Manila Eucharisic Congress. Cardin al Doughery, the Pope’s representative, is planning to leave the Vatican for Manila on January 10. A cable received this morning reports that His Holiness passed a restful night, but his condition fa unchanged.
