Before his departure for Palmerston North, Mr. J. D. von Sturmer was farewelled by Avon Bowling Club members and was presented with a leather bowling bag by the president, Mr. W. Mclnnes.,
Mr. J. Wisnewski, of Kahauri Rd., met with an accident in his home while tending some birds in a cage. He fell against a chair, suffering three broken ribs. He will be confined to bed for probably two weeks.
Mr. H. Dixon, assistant Borough Inspector, will leave on Monday for Taupo, special leave having been granted for health reasons.
The marriage of Miss Irene Ethel Ranford, youngest daughter of Mrs. E. M. Ranford, Lear Street, Stratford, to Mr. Frederick Arthur Gray, eldest son ot Mrs. E. Gray, of Hawera, was celebrated at the Methodist Church on Thursday. R r v. C. O. Hailwood officiated, and Mr. W. Hoskin presided at organ. Two sisters of the bride Phyllis and Molly, were bridesmaids, and the flower girl was Barbara Massey, of Mangalioe, while Mr. Jack Gray, brother ot the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. Harold Wilmshurst, was groomsman. Mr. Tom Ranford, of Whaltaronga uncle of the bride, gave her away. There was a large number bf relatives and friends at the church and afterwards at the reception teld at the home of the bride’s notlicr. , ,
