PLUNKET SHIELD.

Canterbury Wins Because Of Rain. Press Association—Copyright. Christchurch, Last Night. Incessant heavy rain made play impossible in the Plunkeb Shield match between Canterbury andi ■Wellington to-day. Canterbury therefore won on the first innings. Both shield matches played at Christchurch this summer have been interfered with by rain. In the first rain gave Canterbury a lucky first innings win over Auckland and in the second Canterbury was deprived of th chance of forcing an outright win against Wellington.
