LATE DELIVERY. The management, of “Taranaki Central Press” wish to apologise for the late delivery of yesterday’s issue. Machinery trouble held up the printing of the issue until a late hour hut no time was then lost in getting the runners away with their papers. ECONOMY AND INGENUITY. An example of economy as well as ingenuity is to be seen on the Strat- i lord railway platform. Some time i ago the bell which warns travellers I of the departure of trains was badly | cracked and it appeared that it would I have to be replaced. However, the ; bo'.tom portion with the encircling | crack has been neatly sliced off and ! the tone of the bell restored. i ’ ! STRATFORD BOWLERS. A. Dickinson, Avon Club, was de- ■ feated in the first section round of I the New Zealand bowling champion- I ships by a former national champion, i Foster, by 11 —13. He .still has one j life left, however, and meets Stephen- i son in tlie next round. Skoglund, a ■ Stratford player, who qualified, on , the previous day with one life, was defeated by Curtis (Park, Hawera) by 19—14.
