Minute Make-Ups By v. v. SU I Does your skin have little fine lines in it which show up when you put louge on your cheeks? This is apt to happen with dry skins. Give a light massagepack the hollow of the eye with cool, damp cotton first —after you have patted a good muscle oil over your face, and very lightly smooth the skin in the directions shown by the arrows in.the picture. Do this daily for two weeks and then notice the difference in vour complexion.

Protect Your Skin When Swimming.

’ I,', '■ ’ The swimming pool—or the sea —4s an important adjunct to the beauty salon, beCaulse swimming can be aa effective to the figure as creams, lotions and pack® are to the skin. It can improve the condition of the skin as well, also the complexion, becouse both respond to exercise; and is quite an ideal one.

The swimmer usually has a natural, graceful figure, for swimming brings so many muscles into act’bon that it helps to slim the figure that is too full, while it develops the one that is too spare. Before entering the 'water, all powder should be removed from the face, but a touch of lip stick is advisable. In sunny weather, a special preparation should be applied to the face 1 and may be used on other parts of the body as well. A useful cream can be made, by melting two drachms of white wax and then adding it to two ounces of vaseline and rapidly stirring the two ingredients togdther. If wished, a few drops of any perfume may be added, and well blended with the cream.

The girl who swims very often will need an astringent ‘lotion to tighten up the pores. It must be applied about twice a week. If the aid is to be used for the body as well as the face, a stimulating toilet water can be substituted, such as one drachm of borax or one drachm of tincture of benzoin added to one pint of elder flower water. Care mu'st be taken not to make the skin harsh, so this class of lotion or water must be used with discretion.

The swimming girl who wishes to deepen the tint of her complexion will find equal parts of olive oil and sesame oil a satisfactory aid to use, but if the sun is really powerful, she must beware of too much sunburn.

If swimming makes the arms and legs stiff, a few minutes’ massage will be very helpful. A' A.tie olive oil or French chalk must be used to lubricate the hands.
