INVITATION TO AUSTRALIA

NEW YORK WORLD FAIR

EXHIBITS WANTED.

Elaborate Idea Of Travelling Show-boat.

It is understood the Australian Government has been invited to

participate in two important international exhibits. Data have been forwarded to Canberra for the New York world fair ;ln 1939, one of the most ambitious undertakings in the 'history of America. The aim is to make posible an Australian icourt of a fairly ambitious nature. It is believed it will be costly but it is expected the fair will attract 50,000,000 visitors. The' second invitation concerns an international “show boat” proposal of an Anglo-American -concern, which contemplates the purchase of a 20,000-ton liner which it will convert into an enormous floating exposition of British and Dominion goods. The vessel will visit 110 world ports in 30 months. The exhibitions will be accompanied by officials to take orders for goods.

Australian official circles state it is unlikely that the Commonwealth Government wi*. exhibit nationally at the New York world fair, states a Canberra message, but private exhibitors may take part. Details received by the Commonwealth state that the fair will open at . Floshing Bay in

April, 1939. The site covers 1216 acres. The total investment in the exhibition is expected to be about £33,000,000.

It is also unlikely that the Commonwealth will exhioit on the international shbw boat.
