the climbers the dog was a constant companion, and implicit faith was placed in his ability as a guide. At the same period a young Alsatian. Rua, was a familiar figure around the mountain house. However, he did not display the sagacity shown by his companion, but nevertheless, he was popular with visitors, who soon learned that the playful young animal was quite free of the savage traits usually attributed to his kind. But seen loping along the forest tracks, he appeared as a true denizen of the Wild.
