Treatments for Summer Accidents.
Sunburn: Before sun-baking.rub oil (cocoanut oil) well into the skin. For I sunburn, apply thick cream, carron j oil or a good commercial preparation i containing tannic acid. Bee stings: The treatment for these is to remove first'the sting byl.scraping off. Do not pinch it between the fingers. Apply the blue bag or rub with' washing soda or dab on ammonia. Grass stains can be removed by: (1) Sponging with methylated spirits; or (2) -treating with, ammonia water. , Fruit and vegetable stains: (1) Stretch material over a bowl. Pour boiling water from a height directly on the stain (suitable treatment only for cotton and linen materials); (2) soak in weak borax solution; (3) soak in weak ammonia solution. Tar stain; Saturate spot with kerosene, ’wash with naphtha soap and wat r. If tar is old spread lard on stain and wash with soap and water. Paint, varnish and machine oil: Saturate spot with turpentine, benzine or alcohol. Pat with clean cloth. Repeat until stain disappears. If stain has dried on, then first work in lard. Mosquitoes breed and thrive in stagnant water, hence all rubbish should be cleared away in which stagnant water can collect. Kerosene poured on surface of such water, thus causing a film, will help to prevent breeding. If they are particularly.'bad in the district, the doors and windows should be netted to prevent entrance to the house.
