STEAMER HELD UP.
Crew Prefer Celebrations To Work. Press Association —Copyright. (Received 2 p.m.) Wellington, To-day. As a result of a Christmas celebration among a section of the crew of the Union Company’s Kaikorai, the vessel was held up here. She was 'due to leave on Thursday morning for Napier, but a number of the crew expressed the desirq to remain, in Wellington. The majority were in favour of this but were persuaded by Union Company officials to take the vessel to sea and they agreed to abide by this decision. When sailing time arrived, however, a number of the men could not be found. The whole crew were then dismissed and the Kaikorai is now laid up. A new crew will probably be engaged in lime to enable her to sail next week.
