JERSEY BREEDERS’ SUCCESS. The Stratford Jersey Cattle Club, at a meeting held lasit night, decided to write Mr P. Anderson (Levin) congratulating him on his success at the Hawera A. and P. Show, where he won the Jersey’ breed championship, dairy championship, and cheese producing competition with one cow. CHRISTMAS POULTRY. A strong demand for Christinas poultry has marked recent auction sales conducted by Messrs Newton King Ltd. Prices ranged as follows: Turkeys: Gobblers (9s to 16& 6d), hens (Is lid to 8s). Fat hens up to ;'s sd; cockerels up to 2s 6.1; ducklings up to 2s 6d; ducks up to 2s sd; geese, 3s 9d to 4s 9d. •

HOLIDAY CLOSING. The Stratford Borough Council offices will close for ; the Christmas and New Year holidays on Thursday, at noon, until Monday, January 4. Special closing hours have also been arranged for the public library. A late night will be observed on Thursday and the library will not open again until Monday, December 28. Threafter it will be open until Thursday’, December 31, and wi.ll close for die New Year holidays until Monday, January 4th.
