o-— — (By “Topwciyht.’’) Th-’ 1- ratford ITicing Club’s nominations closed List Tuesday night and Hie club can bo congratulated on a very tine response. The total nominations received are 319 and when one considers the number of race meetings hold during the Xmas holidays it must show that owners and trainers alike have confidence in the local racetrack and its appointments, the prize-money offered, and last but not. by any means least, those in charge of the meeting. “Topweight” congratulates the. Stratford Racing Club and wishes them every success.
The Stratford Cup has a touch of metropolitan class and horses such as Fersen, New Zealand Cup winner, Lowenberg, winner of the New Zealand Derby, Onewhctu, winner of the Cornwr 11, Friesland, runner-up in the Thompson to Silver Ring at Wellington, and other good winners engaged, tend to make the cup this year well worth travelling a good many miles to see.
