Shearing On Sundays. A warning that Sunoay snearing was not contemplated when certain restrictions were removed from the shearers’ award was given on Friday by' the Mayor of Gisborne, Mr D. W. Coleman, M.P. He stated that if work were done on Sundays the sheep owners and shearers concerned would be prosecuted. When the restriction regarding Sunday afternoon work was removed, as a result of agreement between the Sheep Owners’ Federation and the I New Zealand Workers’ Union, many wool growers were under the impression that all restrictions were removed. Since then a number of shearing sheds in the district had been working on Sundays. “That,” Mr Coleman added, “is a breach of the award, and 1 have received advice from Wellington stating that if this continues prosecutions will be taken. They must not shear on Sundays. If they do, both parties, shearers as well as sheep owners, will be summonsed.” I Janes
