HAIR BEAUTY. VALUE OF BRUSHING. Let us supopse that your hair is inclined to have a good deal of natural oil. Then a spirit tonic is what it needs for, of course, quite different treatments are needed for dry and oily scalps. This tonic and a cofirse of proper brushing and massage will soor put your hair in perfect condition foi all the spring festivities. Lots of girls are afraid to brus’r their hair lest they disturb their per manent waye (says a beauty specialist). This is a great mistake. Brushing cannot flatten the wave, and if yoi are meditating another wave, it wil make your hair wave twice as wel and give you crisper, curlier ends. As we all know, there is nothin? like brush friction for making th< hair beautiful and glossy and helpin? it to maintain its richness of colour Well, first for an oily scalp, the spiri tonic.
Shake in a bottle equal parts o' eau de cologne, rectified spirit an< distilled water. This lotion is par ticularly good for busy girls, for iti use does not necessitate a shampo* and setting as well. Shake out the hair, well and fric tion it for a few minutes with thi finger tips. Then pour into a sauce: a little of the tonic lotion, and, witl a small piece of cotton wool, rub th< scalp all over, parting the hair in > dozen places so as to get it well hit* the roots without wetting the hair. Yon will find this mixture delight fully stimulating and refreshing ti use. It removes all dust and grease Also it dries quickly and it is whei the scalp is quite dry that the hai should be brushed. Do not brush the hair flat agains the head, but drop the head forwan so that half is brushed away fron it. This serves two purposes I brings the blood to the roots am stimulates the growth wonderfully.
Treatment for Dry Hair. Another good way to make the hai grow. is to separate it into smal strands and pull it gently. NoW‘ for women whose hair is dr; and inclined to be chippy looking am split at the ends. This type of hai must be given a little nourishing oi now and then, even if it does meai more frequent washing. But, as i matter of fact, a little oil properly ap plied need not get over the hair nomake it greasy or clung looking. Get your chemist to make up th< aid-fashioned mixture of bay rum am eantharides with just eight drops o< oil of rosemary. There is nothing better than this for a dry scalp wit} splitting hair.
It is a good plan when there i< even this amount of oil in the lotior to give the hair all its massage am arushing before putting it on. Done in that way it cannot possibly make the hair itself too greasy, but it wil' soon give you a fresh, healthy scalp vigorous hair roots, and glossy hah which will be twice as easy to arrange ind keep set. Be very careful to banish dandrufl it its first appearance. It becomes much harder to cure when it has beer present even a little while, and nothing will so surely spoil all hair beaut} is this very common complaint. Hot Oil Bath. A' regular weekly hot oil hair bath followed by a rhorougli shampoo wilt i medicated tar soap is a wonderfully effective treatment for dandruff. Another good way of getting rid of it is to rub into the scalp before going to oed a mixture of zinc and sulphur ointments, wrap the head in a towel for the night, and wash it thoroughly n the morning. Look for a rundown condition of Four nerves when dandruff is present, ind set about remedying it at once.
