A Soviet Miner Receives Coal As Reward. i. i A play which caused surprise in Moscow literary circles has revealed j that a Stakhanovite (or paeeonaking) | goldminer is to receive as a, reward ■ for exceptional work an exact copy of | an overcoat worn by King George V. | The incident was revealed when j Nicolia Pogodin, a Soviet playwright, I read a comedy to a group of Moscow ■ writers. When criticised because it I was thought the incident was impro- | bable, Pogodin declared it to be true, j and disclosed the circumstances. He I said that the miner, when offered a j reward for his work, asked for an ■ overcoat like that worn by King , George. He had it in photographs. , The Gold Trust officials were shocked, but communicated with Alexander I Serebrovsky, head of the trust, in Moscow. Screbrovsky telegraphed bac: “Semi mo his measurements.” Communications were then sent to the Soviet. Embassy in London, and the coat was ordered from the tailors of the late King. The play is being written for both stage and screen? i
