The president of the Pacific Coast Maritime Workers’ Federation, Mr Lundberg, announced to-day .that the Sailors’ Union had reached agreement with the major shipping companies on all but two points, chief of which was the appointment of a port committee to arbitrate in future disputes. A speedy end to the maritime strike is now hoped for, with the sailors having won their principal demands.
