FACTS AND FANCIES.

Horses Worth Watching For Future.

(By “Topweight.”) Cuddle has 10 stone to carry at Otaki next Saturday but she is not badly treated considering that she was weighted 9.12 in the Epsom in Australia. She has been working in improved style at Trentham lately ; Royal Appellant has been scratched for the Railway Handicap at Auckland. He was withdrawn at 12.12 p.m. last Friday. All the good things said about Beseige were realised last Saturday when he won a hack seven in good time. This horse is improving all the time and will soon win again. * * Should Tonnerre visit Taranaki for Xmas racing he will command solid support. Such an excellent beginner will surely be in the money in his starts, especially at New Plymouth. After Red Manfred’s showing at Woodville it is possible that he will not be taken to Auckland. He raced much below the expectations of his supporters.

» * * Golden Sheila, favourite for the Railway at Auckland, is getting through her training tasks very satisfactorily at Te Aroha. She should strip a very fit mare on Boxing Day, * * * Trouvaille is nominated for a hack event at New Plymouth. He was near the front all the way in the Hack Cup at Te Awamutu and finished a head behind the winner, which was a good one in Quadroon. * Supreme Court is still working very’ well at Hawera and should pick up a race during the holidays. He will go to Manawatu where most of the Fryer ’team is racing. Sir Charles Clifford’s horses, Trench Fight, Bun Fight and Impersonator will leave Riccarton for Auckland next week. G. Humphries, the stable horseman, will ride them in their engagements at Ellerslie. * * * King Neptune is a good one to wlatch. Two starts for a second and a first and is br'ed right, being by Tidal from Queen March. * * * A bright prospect for Xmas mieetings in the South Island is Lochlaggan. She was beaten in her last start at Invercargill but she- needed the race and will be harder to beat in her next outings.
