Miss Wenda Scott, Mokoia, is I spending a few days with Miss Wilsoh. * * * Miss Palmer, Dunedin, is at present staying at St. Mary’s school. * ¥ * Mrs and Miss Molly Malone returned on Sunday from an enjoyable visit to Mrs Malone’s sisters, the Misses Whelan, in Wellington. * * * Mrs Lyons and Miss Molly Lyons i returned by car after a few days spent in Wellington. w -X- XMiss Donovan, Gisborne, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs Laverty, Hamlet Street.

The staff and pupils of St. Mary's School held a very jolly fancy' dress dance as a farewell to Miss Joyce Beale, who leaves shortly to reside in Wellington. The staff presented Miss Beale with a handsome set of crystal goblets and the pupils presented her with a beautiful dinnerZ set. Miss Mavis Scott made the pre- ! sentation on behalf of the pupils and j Miss Wilson for the staff. The fancy dresses were varied and some were very amusing. “Two Scarecrows” in particular were much admired. Indians, Persians, Wounded Soldiers, j Nurses, Fairies, Witches, Cooks, | Lords and Ladies all went io make a | spectacular group. Miss Beale’s cos- i tume, “Sir Walter Raleigh,” was unanimously' voted the best. Miss Wil- | son presided over a deligmful supper, j * * * The following items were inadvertently left out of the account of the concert on Friday night:—“Stratford Convent Choral Class,” eight, part songs; the Misses Kennedy, Schu- • macher, Foley, Harper, Dine, Rae, i Kirby, Sisarich, Ireland, Hall, Sulli- i van, Lynch, Tunbridge, ' ‘‘The Gentle Maiden” and “Heigh for j the Road”; vocal solos by Mrs S4e- j phens, “Break o’ Day',” and Miss Colette Schumacher, “What Snail Remain”; the recitation, “Tony,” was by little Miss Newlove, not Miss Malone, as printed. Mrs Higgs was also a performer.
