Without any reference to Hie civil ' war or ‘its possible outcome, the Barcelona firm mentioned that it had extended its activities and that it would be glad to know if the Aucki land merchant would handle its pro- | ducts on the New Zealand 'niarkc,’... "I thought they were far too busy with other things to bother about the small volume of trade they could do | hero," the merchant commented. Book On African Travel. A valuable old book sent io the Auckland Metropolitan Relief Committee for relief camp use and saved from the destructor when the committee ceased operations some months ago, has been included in a new Afi .i .in sec Ton of the Johannesburg Public Library. It was a copy of the first volume of Lichtenstein’s “Travels in Southern Africa." published in 1812, and it was sent by Mr T. McNab, .Mayor of Mount. Eden, to the i dilor of the "Johannesburg Si nr" for presentation to the library. An acknowledgment of Hie gilt by the librarian, Mr R- F. Kennedy, says Hint there is a considerable demand for such books, on which an aiticle was also published in the "Johannesburg Star.”
