WOODVILLE FORM.
“Odds On’s” Comments For Thursday. The Woodville Jockey Club’s meeting opens on Thursday with good fields of fit horses. In the Manga-Atua Hurdles run over 11 miles, the last entrant Tahoma may be meagrely supported, but has had both wins and placings over hurdles. Of his two recent starts, with a third in a nine furlongs highweight, on the minimum he strongly appeals. Red Rufus completely tuned up, was second to the consistently performing Lord Hereford and favourably meets the lather at 211bs difference. Blue Tiger has completed much work since his spell but may need the outing. Otauru King, Count Willonyx and Taura Lad are possibles. Contract is fresh up, whilst Miss Hushabye is regularly sent over the sticks and supported. Placed horses may be TAHOMA. RED RUFUS. LORD HEREFORD.
For the Maiden Stakes five furlongs, Black Frost and Aube with reputations may carry most support, but Sunny Blonde, The Pawnbroker and Diamond Cutter may closely follow. Perfect Lady, All Happiness, Rioghail, Whistle Pinkie and Hunting Spy have exposed form. Nereus, something above average (recently cut by wire and eased) may be short of work. In an open maiden event form goes to BLACK FROST. AUBE. SUNNY BLONDE. The big race, The Bolton Handicap over 14 miles comprises a small but classy field of seven. Red Manfred strongly appeals, followed closely by Alchemic who may now improve on his recent showings. Werohia and Tout le Monde will be fighting hard. Arctic King may need racing. Full Throttle has been performing poorly. Martara is here tackling company and a distance. He may—later on. Greatest appeal is made by RED MANFRED. ALCHEMIC. WEROHIA. The Nursery Handicap over five furlongs may find Geira (Broughton), who ran Wildflower to a head, chief fancy. Felicitation with a third placing, and Relative, Woodville trained and expected, will both be strongly supported, whilst Whakao well supported both starts at Avondale, probably does not meet such experienced class here and can be expected to produce improvement. The four on
the minimum with recent racing experience are possibles. Those in places may be GEIRA. FELICITATION. RELATIVE. Export has good form for the Trial Handicap run over six furlongs but may be extended by the little raced Kohika. Taupiri is openly expected whilst Helios, Silver River, En Vidette, Otcki, Lucullus Lad, Rotoma and Sunny Blonde all have credentials and recent form, presenting an extremely difficult problem. Possible place getters may be EXPORT. ROTOMA. KOHIKA. The Oete Handicap over six furlongs may be more than a Pakanui pipe-opener for Ellerslie and indicative of atonement for his April defeats. Karl, Lavina and Symcony all speedy and fit attract, and should the usual speedy beginning of Symcony be sustained, a winning bracket may ensure. Invoice, Bodyline and Mata Hari appeal most of the others. A fine sprint may result SYMCONY. LAVINA. BODYLINE. In the Mangarawa Handicap run over six furlongs Peter Beckford may atone, but Kindheart and Blygain l will keep him moving, whilst Etiquette, Prevail and Huntette can scamper. A surprise could emerge from the rest. The meeting of Peter Beckford and Kindheart will create additional interest. The places may be filled by PREVAIL. KINDHEART. PETER BECKFORD. * The Whariti Handicap run over miles contains a large field of IS all without a previous engagement, consequently there will be a wide range of selections. Soho is good yet seldom wins. Ingenuity, a form horse racing more genuinely appeals, but a rise of 141bs will probably stop her. Taumau has been near enough recently to claim strong support and with Waipiro and Earl Colossus look the likely place getters. King's Lancer and Whetuma with recent placings will not be friendless. Corroboree has been boomed and burst several times, and again is strongly fancied here. Probably the most interesting race of the day may end thus — TAUMAU. EARL COLUSSUS. WAiPIRO.
