Stratford Successfully t Defends Avon Stars. Rain caused the postponement of all Central Taranaki shield bowling matches on Saturday'. The holders of the Avon stars, Stratford rink, successfully withstood a challenge from an Avon 'team. Both teams played bowls of a high standard, but ’the Stratford rink was more evenly' balanced. The final score was 26 points to 20. Tte teams were: Holders,, Summerfield, .Butcher, Clark, Williams; challengers, Jenkin, Guthrie, BounSy, Cook.
