KING MAY BROADCAST
NATIONAL HOOK-UP 8.8. C. ALL READY. Government Unable To Prevent a Statement. Press Association —Copyright. Received Noon To-day. New York, Dec. 4. The New York Times’ London correspondent says that the officials of the British Broadcasting Corporation are being held in readiness to receive in the next 48 hours notification from the Palace that the King desires to broadcast to the nation. It is reported that Sir John Reith, director-general of the corporation, has already perfected plans for a hook-up to carry the King’s voice to the farthest corners of the Empire. It believed that the Government will be unable to interfere with the King's wishes, since the corporation is constituted by Royal Charter, virtually operating at the King’s pleasure.
