CRICKET.
Last Saturday the Stratford A team demonstrated that it is definitely a strong batting team. In spite of Hie failure of 6 of the batsmen 170 runs were scored for the loss of !) wickets and, towards the end, runs were coming at a fast rate. Bor Stratford Beere 54 (not ou't), McKenzie (38), I Hall (24) and Kivell (20) all made useful scores. Beere and McKenzie were especially severe on the Batea bowlers and made their runs in attractive style. * * * Richardson, who made 17 (not out) in a long session at the crease is also a promising young player with a sound defence. At present he is handicapped 'through lack of scoring strokes. He would have done well at the end to hit out—even if he had thrown his wicket away. In so doing he might have made some runs quickly. In any case there were plenty of batsmen still to come. Bowling honours were shared by Anderson (1 for I 36) and Ryburn (3 for 56). I I (Continued on page 7.)
