On December 1 the discharged ’ soldiers settlers mortgages heretofore ■ managed on behalf of the Govern- I ment by the Department of Lands ! and Survey at New Plymouth, were ' taken over by the State Advances ’ Corporation, and a branch of 'that ! office has been established for the | purpose in the New Zealand Insur- ! ance Company's Buildings, Devon Street, New Plymouth. ! In addition to providing facilities I for the administration of the soldiers’ I loans in the district, it is intended that the branch of the corporation! ■ should become a local point of refer- i ence in connection with the corpora- j tion’s business. A portion of the | corporation’s business in the district i is at present handled by' agents and I these firms will continue to act for ! a short period in the collection of j rents and instalments, so that no in- j convenience will be paused by the [ change-over.
