Mr. H. Besley Appointed Stratford Appraiser.
On December 1 the discharged ’ soldiers settlers mortgages heretofore ■ managed on behalf of the Govern- I ment by the Department of Lands ! and Survey at New Plymouth, were ' taken over by the State Advances ’ Corporation, and a branch of 'that ! office has been established for the | purpose in the New Zealand Insur- ! ance Company's Buildings, Devon Street, New Plymouth. ! In addition to providing facilities I for the administration of the soldiers’ I loans in the district, it is intended that the branch of the corporation! ■ should become a local point of refer- i ence in connection with the corpora- j tion’s business. A portion of the | corporation’s business in the district i is at present handled by' agents and I these firms will continue to act for ! a short period in the collection of j rents and instalments, so that no in- j convenience will be paused by the [ change-over. It is proposed to advise j individually all persons affected when I the agemy work is being taken over | by the branch office. ; Mr W. R. Beattie, who has been on ] the staff of the Public Trust Office at Palmerston North has been appointed branch manager at New Plymouth, and Mr H. R. McKenzie, an j officer of the Lands and Survey De- j partment will be accountant at the l branch. Mr H. V. Chatterton, who is at pre- I sent employed as a field inspector j with the Lands and Survey Depart- I ment, has been appointed farm ap- . praiser for the corporation, with I headquarters at New Plymouth. Mr | G. Liardet, a member of the corpora- I tion’s field staff at Wanganui is being [ •transferred to New Plymouth as’ j assistant farm appraiser. ; The position of farm appraiser for j the Stratford district will be filled by j Mr H. M. Besley who has had wide | experience both as a farmer and a : stock agent in the Taranaki district, i
