New Orient Liner Crashes Into Jetty. Press Association—Copyright. Received 11.15 a.m. London, December 1. Mrs Irvine Geddes launched the new Orient liner, Orcades, at Barrow-in-Furness. After the launching a high wind caused the Orcades to crash stern first into the railway jetty, of which two hundred feet were demolished. There was no one on the jetty at the time. It is feared that the Orcades' has sprung six plates near the water-• line. j
