HOTEL LICENSE. The transfer of the license of the Club Hotel, Stratford, from Angus Donald Jury to John Pennington Bates was granted by Mr. W. H. Woodward, S'.M., at a sitting of the Licensing Committee to-day. NEW PLYMOUTH RACES. A decision to increase the stakes for the Taranaki Jockey Club’s February meeting by £550 was made at a meeting of ’the committee last night. The distance of the Taranaki Cup was increased from one a-quarter to one mile and three furlongs. RABBIT Rabbits have made their appearance in 'the Tari,ki district, it. was stated at the meeting of the Inglewood County Council yesterday’. Cr Williams remarked that a settler on Tariki Road had already killed six or ■seven rabbits on his property and had enjoyed the luxury of three rabbit pies.
