England had made 453 for three WketS When stumps were drawn, Bartlett having scored 259. J following the disappointing first 7 innings form against Queensland the F.afHshtmm received a tonic this afternoon when Barnett and Fagg engaged in a record-breaking stand. -Barnett made the highest score of his career and Fagg his first century of the tour,, receiving excellent practice. Fagg played very freely at first, but after reaching the forties went very deliberately. .. j Barnett, has been showing brilliant flashes of form, but this was his best dismay < the season, easily exceeding hl* other century at Melbourne. England was more on 'top of the bowlla* than in any match of this tour. The confident way in which, both hooked the faster bowlers suggested the wicket was easy. . AUeu, for Queensland, did not bowl ©Mho total had reached 125. But after lunch the batsmen were set and hit him.. He tried again for one over before tea and.-had Fagg caught at silly mid-off. It would have done the Kentites good to hear the ovation Fagg received on reaching the centiiry*. It was equal to any he could iavb had in his home country. The .crowd,, sensing his run of bad luck, Cheered, him on from the start. Barnett, 181 at 'that point, had been laying on the wood heartily. He was; missed again twice after passing 150, but he was batting almost recklessly then.. The fifth 50 of the partnership took only 22 minutes. It was one of •the fastest ever made on the ground. Eventually he was caught at the boundary after hitting 259 out of 401, including two sixes and 39 fours, ills last 50 was scored in 40 minutes. The batting order of the others was changed, for ’the purpose of practice... Fishlock is still nervous, but when he does hit he hits hard. He gave * sharp chance in the gullyi when he had scored six.
