CORRESPONDENCE.
THE FAIxLEN ANZACS
(To th« Editor-of "The Colonist.".' Sir, —As a permanent and appropriate ' ' memorial to TTie fallen Anzacs, the writer suggests the erection of a marble j arch over the central walk in what is known as Anzac Park. This .reserve!' has 'been named in honour of those who went to the late war, and it appears to ' bo in unison with the scueme that the; memorial should b^ on t'-'-nt. snor. Jfc i s j' also one frequented by t"he residents of tlie city, and is also in tne line of visi-, tors coming from other places. And as " t-. the design of the arch, no more simple and symmetrical one can be found than ■' that of tiie Arch of Titus at Rome. The names of the heroes to be carved on ttio columns of the arch. The cost would riot be excessive, and if the City Council could be persuaded to divert tiie sum allotted to the expense of a fleeting celebration to this purpose that sum together with the Government subsidy would be ample for a- lasting memorial, ft seems to the writer that the copy of the arch erected to a military leader of classical times would be eminently suitable I £or the present occasion. 1 an, etc., S.
