TASMANIAN CHAMPION" RACE. QUEENSCLIFFE, 6th December.
Mormon 1 Shillelagh 2 Panic 3 Talleyrand ... ... 4 Melbourne, Dec. 6th, 18(51. The Corn Market is steady with inclination to an advance ;in the value ofsoine articles, breadstuff being decidedly the turn in favor of the seller. Horsefeed generally maintains its position, with a steady demand for Colouial and Californian Oats. The Abbott Lawrence brings an addition to our slocks of flour, wheat, and o.its ; the advices by this vessel were anticipated, via Syduey, previous week. The New Zealand advices to hr.nd at close of last week were of a favorable nature, and rather extensiwe orders have been executed for Otago. The weather continues wet and changeable and otherwise unpropitious for harvest operations. Flouk. —Imports consist of 20l) tons Californian and 20 tons Tasiaau3.au. There is an increased demand for town and country, while export orders to a iair extent have been fulfilled, and prices have a tendency upwards. Town millers have also advanced their quotations 10s. per ton. Wheat. —Imports from the neighbouring colonies seem for a time to cease. 40,000 bushels Calitbrniau to hand go into store. Millers seem more anxious buyers of any prime parcels, and prices have advanced during the week. It is not, however, likely that any material advance will take place at the present moment, with the stocks he'd, and the close approach of the harvest. The improvement noticed in the Import Market last week has continued, and business in Melbourne has become more aciive than for uiruy months past. Pi-ices of many articles of general consumption are gradually improving, and we hope we may now look forward >,o a move satisfactory stale of things lor some time lo come.
