IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled ' The Regulation of [Elections Act, 1858,' I, John Shaki*, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the City of Nelson, do hereby give notice that, by virtue of a Writ, bearing date the Fourth, day of November, 1861, iß9Ued under,the hand ol his Excellency the Administrator of the Government of NewZealand, ah ELECTION will be held for the return of SIX qualified persons to serve as MEMBERS of the PROVINCIAL COUNCIL for the said Ele:toral District; and that the NOMINATION of candidates will take place at the Provincial Hail, Nelson, on MONDAY, the Thirtieth day of December, 1861, at Noon; and that the POLL (if necessary) will be taken on MONDAY, the Sixth day of January, 1862.
