FRANCE.
In Fiance the paramount, subject of discussion, not unmixed with anxiety and ap- i prehension, has been the state of the food market, affecting all classes and interests in its influence upon prices generally. The harvest has fallen short, and the price of bread has risen suddenly to an unusual height. England, France, and Spain have arrived at a complete understanding in reference to the expedition against Mexico, which will leave at the beginning of November. The Emperor has received visits this month from two royal personages—the king of Prussia and the king of Holland. It has been decided to send 5000 men to Cochin China, to attack the capital, the expedition now in the country being incessantly attacked by the population. . The Prince and Princess Napoleon have returned to France from America, and are about to pay a visit to Switzerland. There is some expectation of a financial crisis in France. The export of gold for the purchase of wheat is very great.
