MOTUEKA.

CoNCEntf.—-On Tuesday evening last a vocal and instrumental concert, in aid of the Widow and Orphans' Fund of the Odd Fellows' Society, took place at the Motueka Institute. The well known unanimity that exists amongst the inhabitants in their desire to support social gatherings for some desirable object, was as perceptible as ever; and, together with those who arrived by the steamer, a demand for seat room resulted that I could scarce be satisfied. The selections for the instrumental portions were judiciously varied, and for the most part rendered with considerable ability ; while the vocal parts were well sustained and pleasingly chosen. The assistance of Mr. Walcot and other gentlemen from the city was also kindly accorded; and their songs, whether sentimental or comic, appeared to be received with ample recognition and pleasure by the whole audience. Judging from the crowded state of the room, there will be an acceptable sum, over and above the expenses, for the fund of the Society ; and remembering that it is not much short of four years since there has been a mingling between the musical elements of both sides of the Bay, we think, with the better mode of transit that, may be soon available, that so long an interval need not occur again between their fraternising!. After the concert, a ball was held in the same building, under the management of Mr. Harding, and was continued with some energy into the small hours. ; '
