CAPE OE GOOD HOPE.

We (8. A. Register) have Cape papers to the 20th March. They contain a few items of news, which we subjoin :—

Capture of a Slaver.—The Spanish slaver Formosa Estrella arrived in Table Bay on the 19th February, in charge ol Lieut. Smith, of H.M.S. Persian. It appears that this well-known slaver, which has hitherto escaped the pursuit of the Brisk and Lyra,, was detained at Lamoo by the Sultan of Zanzibar, in consequence of being reguarly fitted out for the slave trade. As she claimed the protection of the Spanish flag, the Sultan, who has no tieaty with Spain for the suppression of the slave trade, detained her until the arrival of a British man-of-war, and on the arrival of the Persian handed her 4 over to that vessel. She was fitted with a regular slave deck, and had boilers, pannikins, and other slave accoutrements suitable for the conveyance of 700 negroes. She was sent down in charge of Lieutenant Smith for the purpose of adjudication in the Vicr-Admiralty Court, and the vessel was put into the hands of Messrs. Fairbridge and Hull, Admiralty proctors; but as it appears that besides being taken under Spanish colors her papers show a Spanish vessel, she will have to proceed to Havannah to be tried in the Court of Mixed Commission there, the Conrt of Mixed Commission here being only for Portuguese vessels. The Formosa Estrella is a beautiful clipper barque, of 232 tons Spanish measurement, equivalent to about 300 tons British, and appears by her registty to have been buiU at Barcelona about four years ago.— Argus.
