At the Government Bouse, Auckland, this 6th day of May, 1861. 'Present:— . His TExcellency the Goverkor in Council. WHEREAS, by an Act of the General TT Assembly of New Zealand, intituled the " Mifitia. Act, ,1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, from time to time, to constitute, throughout the colony, or in any part thereof, Militis,;7Pistricts, and such districts from time to time to abolish, and the boundaries/thereof to vary, and to designate the Militia of any such district by the name of a Regiment, Rattaliori, Corps, or Company, as he shall thiiik fit: ATnd whereas, by an order in Council, dated the 13th day of January, 1859, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 14th of the same month, the Wellington Militia District was constituted: And whereas; by an Order in Council, dated the 27th day of February, 1860, and published lin the New Zealand Gazette on the Ist day of March, 1860, the Nelson Militia District was constituted: 7 And whereas, by an order in Council, dated the :sth day of April, 1860, and published in j; the New Zealand Gazette on the same day, the Auckij land Militia District was constituted: And whereas inI convenience has arisen from the constitution of the | said districts, and it is expedient that the same should ii be abolished, and that new districts respectively should (be constituted in lieu thereof:: 1 Now, therefore,: his Excellency the Governor, by i and; with_ the advice and consent' of the Executive 7 Council, in exercise of the above recited power, doth" [byv this present order abolish thisr said MilititfDistricts ,'- ---and doth constitute three several Militia Districts, to be called and known by the several names following, namely ;— WELLINGTON, NELSON, and AUCKLAND; and doth, define the respective boundaries of the said districts as follows:— Of the Wellington District the circumference of a circle having a radius of fifteen miles front "the point .where the Hutt River enters Wellington Harbor. Of the Nelson District the circumference of a circle having a radius of fifteen miles from the point where the Western mouth of the Waimea River enters the sea at the Western point of Rabbit Isand. Of the Auckland District the circumference of a circle having a radius of fifteen miles from the point where the Great South Road intersects the Western boundary line of " Clendon's Grant," between Otahuhu and Papakura, except so much of the area within the said circle as lies to the north of the Waitemata.
