Commercial.

During the past month business has been dull and confined to articles of daily consumption. The arrival of the Dona Anita after a long passage, bas supplied all the wants of dealers, and stocks in first hands are still .pretty heavy. Indeed we do not how know of any articles which are short of stock.

The harvest is now oyer, and the wheat crop proves a fair average one. Unfortunately the greater portion of the Waimea districts has been overran by ah enormous quantity of caterpillars, which have des-, troyed every vestige of verdure wherever they have made their appearance, and this will render feed for cattle scarce and dear during tbe ensuing winter. The gold-fields continue to progress favorably, and we believe that upwards of 3000 ounces will be shipped to England, per Bride, which ;vessel •' is expected to sail, with a full cargo, and some passengers, to-morrow, amJ is to be followed by the Dona Anita.
