TO CORRESPONDENTS.
T.W.S.—Your first communication must be declined, for the present at least, or until such undeniable evideuce as you promise be received. We have every desire to give attention to just complaints, but it has hitherto appeared to us that those our correspondent refers to have been of such a general character, and so deficient in clear and distinctive illustration," that we are compelled to wait for pointed and unmistakable evidence before referring again to so grave a matter. After the strict investigation that has been promised has taken place, we shall gladly disseminate any facts that will have a tendency to improve the management or condemn an abuse. Papers received from other quarters on this subject have therefore been reserved also.
