Anderson v. Stewart^ an amount due for wages. (£ls).' Jessie Anderson, sworn: Mr. Stewart; engaged me at ,£1 per month from the latter end of February to July, 1860, amounting to £5. Defendant also hired me after my arrival in the colony, and was to pay me the highest rate of wages—no amount was stated; was engaged as general servant for six months; remained until Mr. Stewart brought a policeman to turn me out. He told me Mrs. Stewart should do the work, as he could not afford to pay for a servant, and that I was insolent.

John Henry Stewart, sworn, said : I am not indebted to the plaintiff in the amount claimed. (A letter was here handed in, showing a debtor and creditor account between the parties concerned.) Agreed to pay her passage for services to be given on board, and on landing in the colony she was to serve me the same as in London, and I was to pay her the colonial rate of wages. After landing I took a house, and wished her to go and do her usual work, but she remained with my wife in a lodging-house, for which I had to pay her expenses. She has interfered in my private affairs, and has been insolent to me? and I told her she had better get some other place. The magistrate nonsuited the plaintiff, for the purpose of giving her an opportunity of proving her claim, and after some little parleying outside the court, the money was paid. Peter Oxford v. Wm. Williams for £*J 13s.—. Judgment for the amount with 6s. costs, to be paid in two instalments in three and six weeks. Thomas Bush v. Robert Watson for £\ 6s. for a bedstead supplied on the 23rd June last for 30a.; §s. had been paid on account* but the remainder

had not been paid. Judgment for the amount with 3s. costs.

J. Levicn ami Go. v. Joseph Parser for JlO for an overdue acceptance, presented at the bank, and no funds. Sent notice of the dishonor to the defendant by post. Judgment'for plaintiff with 15s. costs. Joseph Winterbnrn v. Conrad Sanders for £10 Is. 6d.

Thomas Bush sworn: I let a house to defendant belonging to Mr. Winterburn, first'at Bs. per week, afterwards reduced to Gs. 6d. 31 weeks" rent from June 22nd, 1860, to January 25th, 1861. Judgment for the amount with 9s. costs, to be paid one half in a month, and the other half in two months.

Thomas Bush v. Thomas Downs for a pro. note unpaid amounting to £2 4s. Judgment for the amount with 3s. costs.
