The arrival of the Wonga Wonga from Wellington puts us in possession of Sydney papers)to November 24th, and late provincial files. From the latter we gather the result of the late elections at Wellington :— Featherston 313—Taylor 309^-Rhodes 302. The other candidates polled as follows :— Bowler 225—Wakefield £06—Park 201. Dr. Featherston thanked the electors for the honor, and also for giving him Messrs. Taylor and Rhodes for colleagues, who held the same views and opinions as himself; they had in fact virtually elected nine members of one mind, and had secured the prosperity of Wellington. Mr. Taylor declared that they were determined to carry out the policy enunciated by them during the past session; the Hutt had returned two Constitutional candidates, and Mr. Carter had been unopposed for the Wairarapa; and the result might be considered to have a favorable influence on the other provinces. Captain Bhodes had received a letter from influential quarters at Auck T land, in which it was stated that not more than two or three supporters of the Stafford ministry would be returned for that province. Mr. Bowler, while confessing himself beaten, remarked upon the necessity for non-electors to place themselves on the roll. Messrs. Fitzherbert and Renall came in for the Hut without opposition. Mr. Henry Shafto Harrison will stand for Wanganui, which seat Mr. Fox vacates to represent the new district of Rangitikie; no opposition is expected in either place. Some Taranaki news, by way of Auckland will be found in our present issue.
