"FENDERS will be received at this office -1- until WEDNESDAY the 26th instant for Printing the Government Gazette, and for such other Printing as may be required for the service of the Government, during the twelve calendar months commencing thei Ist day of January next. The Printing will be divided into the following portions:— 1. The Government Gazette. 2. Bills, Acts, and Estimates. 3. Votes and Proceedings, and Daily Notices of the Provincial Council. 4. Statistics and similar Returns, chiefly comprising figures. 5. Blank Forms, and other Jobs not included in the above portions. . TTIS Honor the Superintendent directs it -*--1- to be notified that DOG TICKETS for the year 1861, can be obtained from the Acting Sergeant Major of Police, Nelson, and from the Constables of the undermentioned districts, viz.: Suburban North Waimea-east Waimea-west Waimea-south . Motueka , . Colling wood, by the Sergeant Major of Police. Any person having a dog at large without a ticket for the current year will be liable to be proceeded against under the provisions of the Dog Nuisance Ordinance. ALFRED GREENFIELD, 1492 Chief Clerk. CAUTION. STEELYARDS OR SPRING BALANCES. . /THE attention; of the public is called to -*- ' the "following clauses of the Weights and Measures .Ordinance, prohibiting, under; certain circumstances, the, use of Steelyards, or Spring Balances, in weighing goods. " If any person shall bargain, sell, or deliver in payment, barter, or "exchange, any goods, wares, or merchandise, or other thing by any other weights or measures than by such as shall agree with the said standard weights or measures, or the copies or models thereof as aforesaid (except as herein excepted), or shall so bargain, sell, or deliver by any steelyard or spring balance, or by any unstamped or unmarked weights or measures, every person so offending shall, for every such offence forfeit and pay the sura of forty shillings." " Nothing in this ordinance contained shall be construed to prevent the use of * ■*..* steelyards in the weighing of goods not exposed for aile in the ordinary course of trade; provided that no such steelyard be used within'the limits of any town which shall be brought under the operation of this ordinance."
