MOTUEKA.

A public meeting, called by Messrs., Ifyrker and* M'Mahon, was held at the Swan Inn, Motnekaft on Tuesday last, to consider the defective Postal arrangements in that district.

Mr. M'Mahon having been voted to the chair, the following/resolutions \veie tinahihiously " adopted,?— " ; '■;■■:■.■ i,]'- "■.::, ::< ■ -'• ■■

Ist. "That this meeting is of .opinion that the present arrangements for postal communication between Nelson and Motueka are most unsatisfactory and detrimental to t lie interests of the district." : < .

2nd. " That this meeting recommends that a Memorial be presented to the Postmaster-General, praying that an overland mail be established in accordance with the recommendation of the Select Committee «fthe Nelson Provincial Council at its last and previous Sessions, and that his Honor the Superintendent be requested to forward the same with a copy of such recommendation.'' A committee was then formed to carry out the above resolutions; and a vote of thanks having been passed to the Chairman, the meeting closed.
