MELBOURNE MARKETS.—November 10.

(From Ooldsbrough's Weekly Circular.)

Wool.—We have to report a fair amount of business having been transacted this week—upwards of 4000 bales having been offered at auction here and in Geelong. At the Melbourne sales 2684 bales were offered, but the sales did not go off in a spirited manner, buyers evidently-holding back their orders until the arrival of the mail now due; consequently a considerable portion of the wools catalogued were either withdrawn or bought in: the total quantity sold being 1339ibales, for which prices were obtained about

equal to our previous quotations, None of the Jots, either fleece or greasy, were of a choice description, which is to be regretted; as, were any such lots, brought forward, very high rates could be obtained. The class of wools, offered at the Geelong sales were ! very superior; and, although the range of prices may at first sight seem high, the lots were well worth the money, the prices realised being below bur valuations, and we are confident that had the same wools been offered in. Melbourne, higher rates would have been obtained. As an instance—we sold the first portion of a clip at our last sale forls. lOd.perlb.; the second lot, being equal in every respect, was bought in at Geelong, the highest offer being Is, Bd. per lb. Wool is now beginning to come forward more freely; and should the mail now due bring favorable news, we believe that a very large amount of business, will be transacted, as several large growers, who have been in the habit of shipping home on their own account, have apprised us of their intention Lo^realiae in this market. The following is Bow, Kirk, and Company's report of the Horse and Stock Market, in the same Circular:

Hobses.—Trade has been rather dull this week, and business transactions have not been numerous, owing to the great scarcity of useful stock. There was an active inquiry for first-clasß horses, and buyers could be had for almost any number at satisfactory rates, but very few however were offered1; while "the yards w6re daily filled with a very inferior class of hacks, for,,which" the demand has almost ceased,.; Heavy draught horses, first class, none offered; second class, supply fair,j with a good demand, at £25 to £35; inferior, difficult to sell. First-class hacks and harness horses are, much wanted. Second-rate hacks are also in demand at from £18 to £26. We disposed of a mob of colts and fillies, some of which were broken in; for the unbroken the prices ranged from £7 to £13, and for the broken-in from £13 to £23 per head. Same day a small lot averaged £3010s. .■•■■••■ Fit Cattle.—The market this week opened languidly, there being an evident disinclination on the part of the trade to purchase, except at very low races, which, owing to the ample supply (1424 head), the butchers were enabled to do. Best bullocks £7 to £8 10s., others £5 to £9 ; bert cows £6 to £7, others £3 ss. to £5 £16s. per head. Calves £1 to £2175. 6d. SHBEP.—Best wethers, in wool, 17s. to 18s., others from 14s. 6d. to 16s. 6d.; shorn, 10s. to 135., others 9s. to 10s. Ewes, shorn, Ba. to Bs. 6d.; Lambs sa. 6d. to 9s. each. . . .
