The s.s. White Swan, Captain Wilson, sailed for Napier and Auckland yesterday afternoon. She had an average cargo, and a number of passengers, principally for Napier. We understand that she will remain at Auckland this trip, until the close of the General Assembly, for the purpose of bringing back the southern members, and may be expected here about the 10th November.— Wellington Independent. The White Swan arrived here last night from Nelson via Picton. She left the former port at seven o'clock yesterday morning, and arrived at Picton at half-past three, sailed again at four, and reached here at halfpast nine. Captain Wilson would have made the run here in nine hours and a half had he not called at Picton. The White Swan has undergone a thorough overhaul, and an improvement has been made in her screw, which has completely done away with the disagreeable vibration which previously was so apparent. The Hishop of Nelson was at Picton when the White Swan left. Captain Wilson sighted the Isabella Hamilton off Terawiti, hound for Auckland with cattle. Though we have received the Colonist of yesterday, it contains no news of more than local interest.— Wellinaton Advertiser.
