NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENTS.
T. W. S.—The particulars of your _ case, as stated, would shew some points of hardship endured, but the charge which attributes most of those misfortunes and annoyances to one individual of the Committee, is not borne out by evidence that would justify the publication of your letter. It appears to us, that the fact of the child bein# dangerously ill at the time of its removal, would hare furnished sufficient reason for an application from its mother for postponement, and accompanied by the opinion of the medical man would have beep immediately granted. From some reason unexplained this does not appear to have been done. Although not the first and only complaint that has been laid against the Committee, we think that as a rule they perform the duties (which are by no means light) entrusted to them, to the satisfaction of the refugees generally, while their endeavors to cheerfully fulfil them, to the best of their ability, actually resulted in a quarrel amongst themselves about the necessity for the equal burden of the responsibilities attached to the position. This then does not look like studied oppression, or neglect; and we think it would be but a sorry way of recognising the sentiments of the greater number of those who have been assisted, to cast aside due credit by dwelling upon an isolated case that is not sufficiently substantiated.
