MELBOURNE MARKETS.
(From.Goldsbrough's Weekly Circular, Aug. 11.) Hides.—The dulness noticed in oiir Circular of last week'still continues, and prices have a further downward tendency. The present stock, in Melbourne alone, is nearly 35,000: froui,l2s. to 12s. 6d. each is the highest offer the merchants are disposed to make for large parcels, and, as to sell at this low figure would involve a considerable loss to tlie curer, the bulk will, as soon as. there is a ship laid oh the berth to carry them loose, be shipped on owners'account. Horses.—The market hag been rather buoyant this weelt, buyers 'manifesting considerable eagerness to operate at full rates. First-class heavy draft maintain last week's quotations, and are in fair demand; second class at £30 to £i 0 ; inferior at veiy low rates. Good hacks and harness horses are in great deinaud, at rates varying fram £25 to £25 and upwards.' "We have no sales of unbroken stock ib report'this week.
Fat Cattle.—Prime bullocks, £10 55 % to £14 55., others, £7 to £10; inferior as low as £3 10s; prime cows, £8 to £11. Sheep.—Best wethers fetched 19s. to 215.; others, 13s. to 18s.; a few prime ewes sold at 17s, sd. to 18s. 6d; good do, 13a; 6d. to 16s.
