(From the Argus.) Captain Rogers, of the American barque H. E. Spearing, has favored us with the following items ofnewaup to the date of his sailing from Algoa Bay—-namely, April 4 :— The Governorship of the Cape Colony had not been decided by the Home Government. This would lead to the fusion ofthe Trans-Vaal States into one large republic. ~■:' Considerable excitement has been occasioned in Cape Town by the arrival of some ticket-of-leave men from Australia. The inhabitants were about to convene public meetings to express their disapprobation, and to remonstrate against such arrivals. ''"'.'■

Some Nova Scotia emigrants for New Zealand had £12 allowed them hy the Ca^e Government, as part of passage-money, on their remaining in that place, instead of proceeding to New Zealand.

On the whole the Colony of the Cape enjoyed peace and prosperity.
