SYDNEY MARKETS-MAY 11.
Flour.—This article advanced £2 per ton this day; present quotations being—fine £25, seconds £23 per ton. The rise is attributable to entire dependence on importations. Bread Is. Wheat, 9s to 9s 6d per bushel; oats, 3s 3d to 3s 9d barley, 2s 9d to 3s. . BEEF,.I£d to 2d; mutton, to 3id; pork, 4&d to 6d. per lb. Potatoes, £8 to £10; onions, £30 to £40 per ton. . Apples, 15s per bushel. Hay, £7 5s to £8 10s per ton. Hides.—Dull sale. Fine lots, 15s 3d and I7s; New Zealand, 12s to 13s 6d. From Hobart Town, we have papers to the sth inst. ,The Adverliter of that date, gives the following report of the markets :— There is no alteration to report in the wheat markat. The price continues to be quoted from 10s to 10s 3d per bushel, but buyers are not quite so anxious as they were last week. Flour is quoted by the mills at from £24 to £25 per ton, Oats have been inquired for, and a considerable quantity have changed hands; 4sto4s6d is the price given, but holders are now askirig*a higher rate. Hay is in good demand, and prices have an upward tendency. Potatoes have rather gone out of demand ; prices have receded in consequence. £6 to £6 10i3 is the highest figure quoted. The Cormoall Chronicle ,gives the annexed account of the markets at Launceston:— Wheat having risen in our market last week above the Melbourne price, it has received a slight check. The price of flour here is £22 per ton. Wheat, 9s 6d, and oats 4s 3d to 4s 6d per bushel, with a very brisk demand for the latter.— Sydney Herald, May 14-
