TARANAKI AID COMMITTED
At a meeting of the committee, held at the Court House the 24th March, 1860, N. Edwards, Esq., in the chair. The following resolutions were passed— Proposed by Mr. Tbavers and) seconded by Mta J. Elliott :— . 1. That Mr; W. Wells be Chairman of the Committee. •
2. That Mr. 0. Curti3 bo requested to act as Honorary Secretary. • - :• 8. That Mr. Kerr be requested to act as Honorary Treasurer. .; : ■
4. That each member of the Committee do subscribe £l Is. to defray preliminary expenses. • 5. That Subscription < Lists be opened at once throughout the province for the relief of the BufFerere by the present rebellion at Taranaki. 6. That the co-operation of the country districts bo invited, to carry out theobjecta in view.
7. That & sub-Committee, consisting of Messrs. W. Wells, 0. Curtis, and the mover, be appointed to wait on the Superintendent on Monday ne*t, to know what accommodation could be afforded in any of the public buildings in, case any women and children should arrive here from Taranaki.
8. That the same sub-Committee should also enquire of the Odd Fellows' Society, whetherjfchey would allow their Hall to be used for such accomodation.
