IT 1 HE undersigned hereby give notice, that , I they intend to APPLY to two or more Justices of the Peace, having jurisdiction within the Province of Nelson, at a sitting to be held on MONDAY, the 20tli day of February. 1860, at the Court House Nelson, for an order for "STOPPING UP, DIVERTING, and MAKING'the undermentioned ROADS; and further, that we will cause survey plans of the several roads proposed to be stopped up, substituted, and made, together with the books of reference and estimates, to be deposited on or before the 10th day of January, 1860, with the Clerk to the Magistrates at Nelson, and with Mr. George Taylor, constable for the district of the Takaka. I.— To stop up parts of a road in the Takaka district, lying be ween sections numbered 13 and 14 and section numbered 17, commencing «t or about ten chains from the division line between sections 17 and 19, and running in a north-west direction, and terminating at the river Takaka. Also, to stop up other part of the said road, commencing at or about twenty-five chains from the division line between sections numbered 17 and 19, and running in a south-east direction, and terminating at the division line between sections numbered 10 and ] 2 respectively. Also, to stop up part of a road in the said district, commencing and branching off in a south-west direction at right angles from the last mentioned road, and lying between section 18 on the one side, and sections 19 and 20 on the other side, and terminating at its junction with the proposed line of road from the Waitapu to the river Takaka. And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road in the said district, 75 links in width, commencing at a place known as Manuka Point, in section number 16, and running in a southwest direction, about 25 chains through the said section, and partly throu-jh a native reserve; ■thence in a south-east direction untii it strikes the line of road in front of Mr. Haldane's house; thence from a point on the said line of road at or about 35 chains in a south-east direction, until it strikes the Motupipi line of road ; and thence in a south-east direction, until it strikes the river Takaka, at or near the spot known as Spittal's Ferry. 2.— To stop up part of a certain road in the sajd district, and l.\ ing between sections numbered 5 and 9 on the one side, and G and 10 on the other side, and commencing about three chains from the Motupipi mud-flat, and terminating ah the Motupipi trunk line of road near the banks of the river Motupipi. And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road in the said district, 75 links in width, commencing at the banks of the river Motupipi, and proceeding in a south westerly direction through sections numbered' respectively 5 and 9, and terminating at or near the banks of the said river, about 105 chains, thence ahout 15 chains in a north-west direction, till it joins the road running between sections numbered 10 and 18, thence in a westerly direction for ahout 10 chains through section numbered 18, and thence in a south-west direction -about 50 chains, through the said section 18, until it strikes the proposed line of road from the Waitapu to Spittal's Ferry.' Also, a certain other road, 60 links in width,running in a northwesterly direction about 44 chains, through sections numbered respectively 5 and 6, and commencing at the Motupipi trunk line of road, and continuing along the division lines of the sections until it strikes the division line between sections numbered respectively 6 and 7, Takaka district 3.— To make a new road, 60 links in width, commencing at the road line running in front of Mr. Hald.Hms's house, and proceeding in a southwest direction for about five chains through seer tion numbered 1?, district of Takaka, thence in a southerly direction through the said section to the division line between sections numbered 17 and I.», about five chains, thence in a couth-west direction on the boundary line of the said section 17, until it readies the river Takaka, distance about IS chains. Also, to continue the said road in a north-westerly direction for about 16 chains, through section numbered 31 in the spid district, thence in a westerly direction 37 chains, through the said section, until it strikes the division line between the said section 37 and section numbered 42, and thence in a south-west direction through the said section 31, until it strikes the line of road running between sections numbered 32 and 42, in the said district. 4. To stop up parts of a certain road in the district of Takaka, commencing at or about one chain south of the division line between sections numbered 31 ami 32, and continuing in a south-west direction to the division line between secdons 39 and 44. And to substitute for the same a certain other road, 6<i links in width, commencing from where tjie last-mentioned road was commenced to he ' stopped up, and running in a southerly direction about if) chains, through section 32 ; thence in a westerly direction, through the said section 32 and section 4/3, about 14 chains; thence in a southerly direction, through the »nid section 4:3 and section numbered iiiJ,about 1(5 mid !2 chains; and thence in a south-westerly direction 11 chains, 10 chains, and twelve cha'ns, through the. said section 33 and section 44, until it strikes the division line between sections numbered-44 and S9 respectively, at a point about 16 chains from the south-east angle of the said section numbered 4t.
