HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it - to be notified that the undermentioned BYLAW; published by, tho Nelson Board of Works, on the 18th day of June, 1859, has been CONFIRMED by the' Superintendent and Executive Council, with respect to the portion of the City of Nelson contained within the following, boundaries, viz: — < St. Vincent-street, from the Mud Flat to Hampdenstreet; Hampden-street to Kawai-street; Kawaistreet to corner of Wellington-street; thence up Wai-mea-street to Brougham-street; Brougham-street to Alton-street; Alton-street to the river at Bronti-street; Bronti-street to Scotland-street; thence by Manukastreet to its junction with Manukau-road.; thence in a straight line to the junction of Nilostreet east with the rivor Maitai; thencelhe Mttitaf river to the Mud Flat. The above streets to be included m the operation of the By-Law. BY r LAW. If any horse, mule, assrsheep, swine,1 or other beast or cattle of any,kind, shall, at any tiine'aftcr this By"Law shall - come into operation, be found depasturing,' whether under the tendence or control pf any'person or persons or not, in or upon any street or oilier highway within the limits of the town of Nelson, or upon the sides of any such street or highway,' and whether such street or highway, or any part thereof, shall lead or pass through or over any com • mon or waste, or unenclosed ground or not, the owner of any such horse, mule, a&s, sheep, swine, or other beast,or cattle,' shall, for every breach :6f this/By-Law; forfeit and pay a;p6nalty of not exceeding tenrshillings f for ;tbe first offence, iind not exceeding forty shillings for the second- and every subse^uerit:offerice V and in. case the owner's name cannot be ascertained'of any. such animal so depasturing as aforesaid, the same may be driven to the nearest pound, and shall be subject to ■>the enactments' of an Ordinance passed in. Session VIII. of the Legislative Council of New Zedlatid-in- | tituled "An Ordinance to authorise and regulate the Impounding of Cattle," in respect of cattle upon enclosed lands.
