Pithey., I Jfc is proposed to establish in Nelson a Society to be called the Nelson 'Building. Land, and Investment Society; 'the object of which is to enable all persons by the payment of a smnll weekly or monthly sums,, to have the advantage of a certain amount of ready money at their command, with which they may become the immediate owners of houses,or land. The principles on which-it is proposed this Society will be able to effect its intended object are simply these:— That the Society consist of an unlimited number or Members or Shareholders. , • Thafc the duration of the Shares be limited to 10 years. . ■ Thafc the nominal amount of each share be £50, Thafc the payment of a monthly subscription of ss. per share constitute a Member. ■ - . That an entrance fee of 2s. 6d. per share be paid on application 'for shares. That any Member may be the holder of one or more shares. That so soon as a sum, say of £50, is in the hands of the Treasurer, the same may be offered for competition i>y ballot to Members. The Member offering the highest bonus being entitled to receive that amount by wuy of mortgage on either houses or land. That the amount of the said advance, with the interest, be repaid by the monthly subscriptions; and it is expected'that, with the addition of the profits arising from bonus, on sales, fines, &c, the share will be realised a considerable time within the specified period of 10 years. Thafc in order to accomodate those who may desire to make a temporary deposit of small sums, it is proposed to permit any person to pay in weekly sums of not less than 2s. 6d. on a deposit account, on which interest will be allowed y these deposits may be withdrawn on a short notice, and the payment of a small fee, or the depositor may transfer the same, and become a Member of the Society—thus adding the advantages of a savings bank to that of a Building Society.
